THE HISTORICAL MUSEUM OF CRETE
IS REOPENING ON 15 JUNE

On Monday 15 June, the Historical Museum of Crete is opening its doors to the public once more. In accordance with current protection guidelines, the following measures apply to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

1. Please stand on the floor markings when queueing and being served in the reception area (shop and ticket office). If all the spots are occupied, please use the waiting points outside, in the north courtyard of the Museum.

2. No more than 125 people are allowed inside the Museum at any one time. The maximum number of visitors per room is also clearly marked. All the Museum Collections are open to visitors once more, including the temporary exhibition of works by Alexis Akrithakis (On the Move), which remains on show at the Museum.

3. Visitors are kindly requested to keep their distance from others and follow the instructions of the Museum guards. Waiting areas with seating are provided for this purpose.

4. Disabled visitors are invited to call ahead to ensure access.

5. Partitions have been placed in the following customer service areas: the ticket office, the shop and the Café.

6. All visitors and staff must wear face masks or visors inside the Museum. We are happy to provide free face masks if you don’t have your own.

7. Antimicrobial hand gel dispensers are available at the Museum entrance and on each floor.

8. Payments can be made using POS terminals.

9. The Museum makes maximum use of natural ventilation indoors and is fully compliant with air conditioning safety instructions. Daikin MC70L ionisers also operate in the exhibition rooms to remove microbial load.

10. The Museum is professionally disinfected at least once every two weeks, depending on visitor numbers. Cleaning by Museum staff has also intensified, paying particular attention to frequently touched areas (touchscreens, seats, elevator buttons and surfaces).

11.  The Museum Café is open as normal, following hygiene rules and with tables and chairs placed the appropriate distance apart.

12. Information leaflets are provided. The Museum staff are always available to help ensure a safe and pleasant visit.

The Historical Museum of Crete Summer 2020 opening hours are as follows:

The Museum Café has the same opening hours. You can also access the Café independently from the south courtyard.
