Michalis Kontaxakis and Nikolas Christopoulos at the Piskopiano Museum of Rural Life

13/06/2018

With sounds coming from wood and leather, which have their roots in the Cretan music tradition, but not only restricted to it, the Almiriki band will share with the audience its original music style, on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 21:00, at the Society of Cretan Historical Studies Museum of Rural Life, annex of the Historical Museum of Crete, 3 km south of Hersonissos, in the heart of the traditional settlement of Piskopiano.

In the Museum's 19th century stone-built olive mill, musicians Michalis Kontaxakis (mandolin, vocals) and Nikolas Christopoulos (xylophone, keys, percussion) will present covers and new compositions inspired by the musical tradition and landscapes of Crete. The mandolin is in a constant dialogue with the xylophone and percussion, blending with the keys. Together, they create a musical environment of intimate and traditional, yet modern sounds.

Refreshments will be available throughout the evening in the reception area of the Museum.

With the € 4.00 entrance ticket, visitors will be able to visit the Museum Collections and attend the two-hour music program at the fabrica (olive mill). The exhibition areas are accessible for people with reduced mobility.
