JD Walter | As the Night Falls, in the Garden of the Historical Museum of Crete


JD Walter, one of the most distinguished singers of the modern New York Jazz music scene, makes an appearance for the first time in Heraklion on Friday, August 3rd at 21:00, in the garden of the Historical Museum of Crete.

JD Walter has collaborated with important contemporary Jazz artists such as Dave Liebman, Billy Hart, Tom Harrell, Eddie Gomez, Bob Dorough, Edgar Bateman, Nicholas Payton, Jean-Michel Pilc, Bill Evans, and Mark Murphy. He has appeared at many festivals and clubs throughout America, Europe, and the Middle East. He has also performed at various well-known venues like the famous Lincoln Center in New York, The Jazz Standard, The Blue Note, The Tribeca Performing Arts Center, and the 55 Bar, popular in the Jazz community. He has released seven records; Sirens in the C-House (Encounter/Dreambox Media Records, 2000), Clear Day (Double-Time, 2001), Dedicated to You (PACT, 2004), 2Bass, a Face and a little skin (Encounter/Dreambox, 2006), Live in Portugal (Jwal, 2008), Live at the 55 Bar (Jwal & 55bar, 2009), One Step Away (Jwal, 2013). Apart from his own releases, he has participated in productions of many other Jazz artists.

JD Walter will be accompanied by the trio of Antonis Tsikandilakis (piano), Yannis Polychronakis (double bass) and Stathis Stouraitis (drums). Together, they will feature tracks from the singer's discography and jazz standards covers.

On Friday evening, the Historical Museum of Crete will be open from 20:00 until 23:00. During this time, the permanent collections and the temporary exhibitions of the HMC will be open to the public for a nighttime tour. Audio guide devices will be available (free of charge) at the entrance of the Museum.
