AS THE NIGHT FALLS - BABEL TRIO | World Day for International Justice

01/07/2019

On World Day for International Justice, Wednesday 17 July, As the Night Falls welcomes – as always at 21:00 in the Museum garden – the explosive Babel Trio.

Babel Trio produce a psychedelic mélange of traditional music of Crete and the Aegean islands with a progressive rock sound. With dynamic drums and transformed traditional melodies on the electric lute and bass, Babel Trio give vent to strong emotions, meanings and concerns such as romance, alienation, anger, despair and revolution. Although their music is inspired by Aegean and Cretan scales, it is international in scope, echoing messages from beyond the borders of Greece.

The group has toured Greece, made a successful appearance in Berlin, and dozens of appearances at festivals alongside groups such as Kadebostany, 1000MODS, Villagers of Ioannina City, Puta Volcano, Xylouris White and Ypogeia Revmata. Their debut album was Roots Electrified in 2017. The Island of Cretal (2018) is their second: “Cretal”, a portmanteau of “Crete” and “Metal”, it perfectly describes their music.

The Babel power trio consists of Dimitris Sideris (vocals, electric lute), Trikalero (drums) and Michalis Avlonitis (electric bass).

Exclusively for the Babel Trio concert, the number of chairs and tables in the garden of the Historical Museum will be reduced.
